Electrical design/ project engineer (x2)

We are looking for two high energy, detail focused Design Engineers to join our Asset Engineering team with proven experience in electricity network design and project engineering.  Working closely with our engineers and field operations team you will be responsible for providing cost effective, standards aligned designs for asset replacement, renewal, capital and large-scale maintenance projects.  You will ensure all work is produced with the safety of our people, the public and assets at front of mind.

Key aspects of this role include overhead and underground network design and engineering, cost estimation, development of technical specifications and standards, and project engineering support during construction.   You will be a self-starter and have strong ability to deliver multiple projects on time and to the required standards.

You will:

  • Have a relevant qualification in electrical engineering or similar.
  • A minimum of 3+ years demonstrable experience in engineering and/or electricity design roles, or significant experience in field construction supervision or project management.
  • Formal project management training is preferred, but not essential.
  • Understanding of best practice and industry standards for network design and asset management.
  • Clear, consistent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Asset engineering MANAGER

We are looking for an experienced Asset Engineering Manager to join our expanding Asset Management team.  In this newly created role you will be responsible for the development and implementation of effective Asset Management strategies for our network, with specific focus on aligning our asset strategies to current industry standards.  You will deliver the full range of asset management activities from developing strategic long-term asset fleet strategies including asset investment forecasts, planning of maintenance and renewals through to the development of technical standards and designs and ensuring delivery of the maintenance and works programme.

Reporting to the GM Asset Management, and leading a team of Asset Engineers and Designers, you will bring strong technical knowledge of asset management practices coupled with demonstrable experience in managing large scale and complex asset maintenance, replacement and renewal programmes ideally in a regulated utility environment.

You will:

  • Be tertiary qualified in engineering (electrical preferred, but not essential).
  • Have 10+ years’ experience within the infrastructure, utilities or similar environment.
  • Professional membership of Engineering NZ, the IET or IEEE; Chartered status is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong management skills with the ability to empower your team.
  • Have strong analytical and methodical approach to making decisions.

NETWORK development manager

In this newly created role, as the Network Development Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of growth and development of the electricity network, including ensuring that commercially sustainable short and long-term plans are in place for network expansion so we meet growth demands, accommodate customer developments and the impacts of new energy technologies. 

Reporting to the GM Asset Management, you will bring your expertise in network development and system planning, a high level of commercial acumen, and demonstrable experience with project delivery.  You will ensure excellence in delivery of network and customer projects; timely and appropriate investments are made in the network to ensure service levels are met and risk is minimised. 

You will:

  • Be tertiary qualified in Electrical Engineering.
  • Have 10+ years’ experience within electricity distribution utilities or a similar environment.
  • Professional membership of Engineering NZ, the IET or IEEE; Chartered status is preferred.

IT Business Analyst

We are looking for a dynamic and engaging IT Business Analyst to join the Counties Power IT team.  Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will be responsible for delivering projects based on business requirements, have thorough and proven experience in improving business operations and reducing costs across process lifecycles.

A a strong set of interpersonal skills will see you succeed in the role as connecting and working with all levels of the business is essential to influence, deliver, and ensure change initiatives are adopted and maintained within the company.  You will be adept with interviewing, facilitating workshops or presentations to document project and business requirements.  The ability to maintain a commitment to balancing the needs and wants of individual customers and communication skills will be second nature.

The successful applicant will have:

  • An IT or Business-related qualification at tertiary level
  • Five or more years’ experience directly delivering business requirements
  • Experience in the energy or utilities sectors would be advantageous although not essential
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Agile and Lean Six Sigma methodology
  • Be a strategic thinker with analytical skills and high attention to detail
  • The right to work in New Zealand

HV Electrician

Reporting in to one of our Field Services Managers this role take responsibility for the delivery of allocated works and will require someone with a genuine passion for health and safety, who takes complete ownership of their accountabilities and the safety of all staff and contractors working with them.

This role will suit a technically astute, hands-on electrically experienced professional who is adept at managing a complex workload of new build and maintenance based electrical projects.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • 5+ years' experience in substation maintenance/ fitting/ protection in the electricity distribution, utility or similar environment
  • A background in fault finding and distribution work
