Tree causes power outages

7 August 2015

Nearly one in four power outages nationally are caused by trees, and Counties Power encourages landowners to use a safetrim service to keep trees well clear of all power lines.  "In this case a small branch contacted the line and made a big impact on a lot of people."

The legal minimum distance between trees and power lines varies depending on the voltage of the line, and trees should never grow close enough to touch power lines.  The legal minimum distances between trees and power lines are listed in the network section of the Counties Power website.
