Christmas windfall for Counties Power customers

Christmas is coming a little earlier to power users from southern Papakura to Mercer with a welcome discount on their power bill thanks to local lines company Counties Power. Counties Power provides a discount to power customers connected to their network as at 4 November, based on power consumption over the year.

This discount is paid as a credit on customer’s electricity bill which is sent out by electricity retailers.  The credit will show on customer’s December or January bills.

Counties Power Chief Executive Sheridan Broadbent says the company is proud to offer the $11.3m pay out to customers.  “We’re pleased to offer a discount of more than $11 million to our local customers.  Here at Counties Power we work hard to deliver a safe, robust and cost-effective network throughout the Franklin and Counties area, taking pride in our sustained infrastructure investment while also returning a discount to customers. The average household discount will vary depending on power usage however it will be around $220, a welcome cost savings, especially at this expensive time of year.” 

The discount is provided as a credit on power accounts.   Customers can view the amount of discount they will receive online at By updating their details online customers can also go into the draw to win a Samsung Galaxy tablet.
