Broadbent resigns as Chief Executive of Counties Power
Sheridan Broadbent, the Chief Executive of Pukekohe-based electricity lines company Counties Power, has announced her resignation from her role with the company. Broadbent, an infrastructure executive who held senior roles with Telecom NZ, Downer and Genesis Energy before joining Counties Power, will leave the company at the end of June.
Counties Power has been in a period of active transformation since Broadbent joined mid-2014. Since this time the company has completed its major 110kV infrastructure and substation projects, finalised the deployment of smart meters to its mass-market consumers and grown its consumer and volume base 2-3% annually. More recently, the company has been playing an active role in new technology partnerships including a multi-party 500kWh grid scale battery pilot, development of a dataco concept model with Simply Group, Creative HQ and the Lightning Labs energy accelerator, and been an active voice for more transparent collaboration between retailers and lines companies.
Chairman Vern Dark will lead the process to recruit a replacement and has a clear vision as to who the Board is seeking to lead the company. “Sheridan has led this business through a significant turnaround in strategic direction and safety performance in the last three years, while helping us prepare the business for sustained growth. We wish to take this good work forward and maintain momentum against our strategic plan. She has brought together a talented lead team with a clear – and very exciting – plan in place. We’re looking for a commercially astute and innovative 21st century leader to help us achieve our clearly defined ambitions, while building effective relationships with our retail customers and industry stakeholders.”
Sheridan Broadbent is understood to be pursuing further governance opportunities within the technology and energy sector.
