1.4m dollar network upgrade for Clarks Beach
Clarks Beach will soon see an influx of Counties Power crews as the company completes a million-dollar electricity network upgrade. The $1.4m project includes building a new underground network and removing power poles.
The project will run for four months, starting in mid-April. Roads affected include Clarks Beach, Torkar, Stevenson, Tahiki, Seaway and Crispe. Crews will build the new underground network prior to the changeover, with only minimal scheduled power shutdowns expected at changeover.
Counties Power General Manager Field Operations Dale Carline, says the improvements will future proof the electricity network.
“This large-scale project in Clarks Beach will improve power reliability and safety while also making it more visually appealing with the removal of power poles and lines. While there will be some disruption along the roads and footpaths while we complete this work, we know locals will enjoy the benefits of a safer and more reliable network with unobstructed views of the beautiful Manukau Harbour.”
“As always, safety is our utmost priority, that of our people and the public. Please be aware of any traffic controls and drive slowly past all work crews.”
Any scheduled power shutdowns will be communicated via letter at least 10 workings days prior and advertised on the Counties Power website - countiespower.com - and on the app. To get the app type app.countiespower.com in your smartphone internet browser.
Counties Power reminds the public to always treat all lines and electrical equipment as live and to call 0800 100 202 or use the Counties Power app to report any issues.
