Christmas bonus for the community

26 November 2019
It is Christmas bonus time for Franklin as local lines company Counties Power pays out their annual discount.  Counties Power is giving all local power customers a share in $12.1m in discount on their electricity bills.  The Counties Power discount will be paid as a credit on customer’s December or January power bill from their electricity retailer.

Counties Power provides a discount to power customers connected to their network as at 1 November 2019, based on power consumption over the year.

Counties Power Chief Executive Judy Nicholl says that the one hundred percent consumer-owned company has maintained the price of their lines charge component for the fifth year in a row to keep customer’s power bills as low as possible while also continuing with their significant investment programme to ensure a safe and reliable power supply for the community.

“It’s been an extremely busy and successful year as we’ve rolled out a $60m network investment programme.  A key focus is on delivering smarter technology and solutions, keeping abreast of the increasing and evolving energy needs of our community. To future poof our network we’re currently investing in new substations in Pokeno, Bombay as well as Drury and completing a major upgrade of Waiuku.”

“We’re powering new subdivisions and industrial developments in Drury, Hingaia, Karaka, Ramarama, Paerata, Pukekohe and Pokeno as our population soars and we become an industrial hub along the Southern Motorway route.  To serve existing communities we’ve also completed major network upgrades throughout the region, including in Clarks Beach, Kaiaua, Otaua and Waiuku.”
